• Our college has taken the name of Sri Sengamala Thayaar, The divine consort of Sri Rajagopalswamy. As women prove their efficiency in various fields, including Air Force, our founder Late. Srimathi Krishnaveni, wife of Late. Sri Vivekanandam, decided to fulfill the long felt educational need of the people of Mannargudi and its surrounding taluks.

Salutations and Greetings . . .

• Being the Managing Trustee and Chairman of Sengamala Thayaar Educational Trust Women’s College, Sundarakkottai, Mannargudi Taluk, Thiruvarur District, TamilNadu, I wish to share some thing with you. Two decades ago a strong feeling was gaining momentum to have an exclusive women’s college for this predominantly agriculture area, especially to feed the daughters of the farmers. To fulfill the desire of this area my beloved mother Smt. Krishnaveni Vivekanandam initiated a Trust and appointed me as the Managing Trustee along with several good hearts as the board of trustees. In the year 1994 we started this institution with her blessings.
  Being the only daughter of a farmer, hailing from a remote village our founder has a strong desire to empower the rural women. We deviced our vision “Empowering Women Empowering the Nation” by imparting the higher education to the rural girls by providing a first class infrastructure, instruments, facilities and a very strong teaching method to fulfill the needs.I feel proud to say we are second to none in keeping the standards. An excellent self sustained educational environment is being provided here, which is encouragingly supporting our students to excel in their academics and researches.
   At this juncture I wish to congratulate all stakeholders for their overwhelming support. I assure a world class service in the coming years to excel our Mannargudi in the sky of higher education.

• I convey my gratitude to Lord Bala Vidya Ganapathi for positioning me as  Principal  to render my service to this authentic institution.
  Women’s empowerment is the process by which women gain power and control over their own lives and acquire the ability to make strategic choices.Empowerment includes the action of raising the status of women through education, raising awareness, literacy and training. It is all about equipping and allowing women to make life- determining decisions through the different problems in society.It is a necessity for the very development of a society,since it enhances both the quality and the quantity of human resources available for development.Having the motto, “Empowering Women, Empowering the Nation”, our institution strongly engages itself for providing education to girl students hailing from rural areas.
• In order to achieve our vision and mission, we are prepared to take as much effort as possible for the betterment of academic scenario in India. We believe that education is an effective medium of social renovation. We get encouragement, looking at bright and successful careers of our thousands of students, which subsequently benefit the society.Teachers at STET are highly qualified and experienced educators who are committed to supporting each student’s learning experience through quality instruction and the individual learner. Teachers work to provide students with differentiated support that address each student’s specific needs both academically and socially. I am assured that  collaborative effort we can achieve more to benefit our students who are the future leaders of tomorrow.
