The department was established in the year 1994 with 2 members of faculty and 33 students, to meet the increasing demand for higher education among women. With the same spirit Post Graduate and M.Phil programmes were started to impart quality and research oriented education to enhance the knowledge of students. At present 16 staff members are rendering their services in the department. It aims to ensure quality education to all students of commerce and motivates the young minds to face the existing competitive scenario and also the challenges in the global era.

To engage the students with hands on training in commerce and trade with the help of banks and business establishments. To expose the students to software for easy access to accounting and auditing.
